CASTRO VALLEY, CA — A child crossing the street in a crosswalk after school in Castro Valley Monday was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver. An arrest has not been announced.
The crash happened shortly before 3:30 p.m. at Manter and Crow Canyon roads.
CHP Officer Gabe Walters described the suspect as a white or Hispanic man, 25 to 35 years old, driving a lifted, black Ford F-150.
Walters said the suspect stopped, looked, and then drove away from the child, only identified as a 12-year-old girl. The pickup had been traveling west on Manter Road, turned south onto Crow Canyon Road, and hit the girl.
