CASTRO VALLEY, CA — In a contest between a big rig and a fire hydrant, put your money on the big rig. This was the scene Monday morning in Castro Valley when a big rig truck sheared off a fire hydrant. The crash happened at the corner of Center & Heyer. Alameda County firefighters, East Bay MUS workers and the California Highway Patrol teamed-up to keep people safe and to shut off the hydrant. Alameda County Fire Department on Twitter
