Description

A photography FUNDAMENTALS not a basics class. Contemporary photography has pushed fundamental concepts and techniques aside due to the rapid advancement of camera technology and multitude of post-processing options. The aim of this class is to bring back core concepts and techniques so you understand how photography works at the base level. We will spend quite a bit of time learning and understanding how your camera "thinks" - how it figures out how to make the picture look. This is important because it will allow you to know how to control it so it is YOU who decides how the pictures should look like. Once you master this concept and process, you will spend less time wondering how your photos "came out" and less time on a photo editing app trying to get the image to look right. See the image below: zero adjustments on brightness/exposure and minimal adjustments on all others. Knowledge gained from this workshop will provide you with a strong foundation to build more skills on no matter where you decide to go with your photographic journey. Tentative schedule: 1:00pm - 1:15pm: Check-in & meet 'n greet 1:15pm - 2:55pm: Part 1 2:55pm - 3:00pm: Break 3:00pm - 4:45pm: Part 2 4:45pm - 5:00pm: Final Q&A + closing remarks Required gear/knowledge: Camera with full manual control **Semi-private. 3 participants max. All participants must sign a photo release, waiver, and provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination** "Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn." ~Benjamin Franklin All workshops include theory, demonstration, AND hands-on practice to address visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning. The instruction is based on the most basic platform with little use of automation such as camera scene modes, app-based filters, and machine learning so YOU are in control of the images you create.
