Help GAP Ministries sort food items, distribute food packages + tour a food warehouse!
WHAT TO EXPECT:
GAP Ministries' mission is to "stand in the gap" to help children + families break the cycle of poverty and ensure no family goes hungry.
We will work together in their Community Warehouse, where GAP Ministries reclaims new items from major retailers that would otherwise end up in landfills. These items are then redistributed to Tucson-area nonprofits, who provide them to individuals in need.
Kid Volunteers will work together with their parent(s) to sort food items and distribute food packages to the nonprofits who will arrive to pick them up. At the end of this project, we will be given a tour of the Community Warehouse.
KIND NOTES:
This is an indoor and in-person volunteer project.
Please wear closed toe shoes as this is a warehouse setting.
Please see the enclosed parking + entrance PDF. We will be entering the IMPACT building. The front door is locked on Tuesdays because the warehouse is not open to shoppers on the food distribution day, but the dock bays are open and the warehouse people will be able to see you and let you in.
A takeaway snack will be provided for the Kid Volunteers at the completion of the project.
Stay tuned for additional details to help you prepare for the day!
Crafting Kind Kids is a family volunteering organization that works with a variety of Tucson non-profits to develop and create family-friendly volunteering opportunities for kids ages 5 and up.
