Learn to recycle existing papers into new pulp using blenders. Experiment adding one or more different dried plant fibers to the pulp so each of your papers is unique. Your finished papers can be filled with as much texture and character as you'd like. Experience stirring the paper pulp with your hands and learn to "pull" or transform the pulp into 10+ sheets of new paper. Try out a wooden mould and a handmade plastic mould. Experiment with the different ways to press the water out of your sheets.
You'll go home with as many sheets as you have time to make. (5-12 probably, depending on size). Any size can be made.
You'll have the choice of taking your papers that day to dry at home, or leaving them at Casita Workshop to dry and picking them up a couple of days later.
Your textured, handmade papers will work great in collages, cards or framed as they are. Leave the sheets whole or tear them into smaller pieces or shapes.
Everything is included in this class but you are welcome to bring any papers and plant-fibers from home if you'd like to try them out (optional). Optional fibers that work well: Any plant material that is now dry including spices (good way to use outdated ones), leaf tea, dried flowers or leaves from the yard, sawdust, coconut fiber, seeds. Come experiment!
