Jeff Busch Workshop @ Jazz Night School
Internalizing the Groove: Core Rhythms of Jazz, Brazilian, and Afro-Cuban Music -
Sunday, March 6th, 2022
12:00pm - 2:00pm
ONLINE OR IN-PERSON
Spend your Sunday afternoon in rhythmic communion (think: drum circle) with fellow workshop participants and world-class drummer and percussionist Jeff Busch!
In this workshop, Jeff will take us through the core rhythmic patterns underlying the most common jazz and Latin styles. Bring your instrument, use one of the provided hand drums, or use a household item to internalize the rhythms through performance and group playing. Rhythms will be explored through their cultural origins as well as their modern-day application in various jazz styles.
You will practice performing various rhythms, learn what to listen for in various styles, and have fun playing grooves in a group. **All instruments and skill levels are welcome and familiarity with rhythmic notation is not required.**
This workshop is being offered as a hybrid, both online and in-person simultaneously, with a limited number of in-person participants. To participate in person, you will need to provide proof of vaccination and wear a mask. Further instructions will be sent following registration.
