SALEM, MA — Salem families looking for ways to keep students active and entertained during February vacation week can look to a trio of Salem Park and Recreation programs to do the trick. The recreation will offer art and theater workshops, along with a kids' day hike during the week off from school. The Improv for Teens & Tweens program will run Tuesday through Friday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Salem Community Life Center. Students attending will experience theater through improvisational games for the four-day camp. The cost is $65 for the full camp with registration available here. The February VacationArt Class is Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon. Students ages 8 to 14 are invited to join local artist Linda Abbene for a morning of art and instruction. Children will work with drawing, sketching and watercolor painting. That class will be at the Winter Island Function Hall. Families can register here. The school vacation Hike For Kids for those ages 6 through 12 will be Friday from 10 a.m. to noon starting at the Forest River Conservation Area. The cost of the nature exploration walk is $10. Families can register for that program here as well. (Scott Souza is a Patch field editor covering Beverly, Danvers, Marblehead, Peabody, Salem and Swampscott. He can be reached at [email protected].
