This film documents the history of the leading figures, institutions and events that transformed the American stage in the wake of Civil Rights activism. It includes interviews with Ossie Davis, Amiri Baraka, James Earl Jones and Ntozake Shange, and clips from many landmark plays and early community theatre up to 1970s.
Post discussion will feature a panel of local Black Theatre Makers moderated by Thomas Warfield and inclduign Avenue Blackbox Founder - Reenah Golden, North Star Players Founder/Director - David Shakes, Maplewood Performing Arts Center Founder/Director - Reuban Tapp , Legacy Drama House Founder/CEO - Dr. Mary Bisbee Burrows and others.
