QUINCY, MA — A shooting on Tuesday night in Quincy's Germantown Point neighborhood has left a senior at Weymouth High School dead, police say. Nathan Paul, of Weymouth, was identified by family members Wednesday afternoon, NBC10 first reported, though he has not been officially identified by police. According to NBC10, his family said he was looking to attend Quincy College next year. Robert Wargo, the Superintendent of Weymouth Public Schools, released a statement Wednesday afternoon. "We are incredibly saddened to learn of the passing of one of our Weymouth High School students. Moments like these are difficult to process for students, as well as staff and parents," Wargo said. "Our hearts are with the student's family and loved ones during this difficult time." Around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday night, emergency crews responded to the area of Taffrail Road in Quincy after receiving reports of shots fired. When officers got to the scene, they found a man, later identified as Paul, who appeared to have been shot inside a car while driving and drove off before crashing a little further up the road, police said. Paul was taken to Boston Medical Center where he later died, officials said. "There had been a shooting that had taken place, vehicle that may have been involved was tracked down to the intersection of Palmer Street and Yardarm Lane," Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey said."They found a young male in the vehicle, apparently a gunshot victim." Police reported witnesses seeing multiple people flee the area on foot, but so far the Quincy Police Department does not have any suspects. Quincy Police Chief Paul Keenan said Tuesday night that no arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to contact Quincy police at 617-479-1212.
