Entries will be accepted until March 25, 2022. Of all the submissions, three total will be selected to have their posters displayed as billboards throughout West Haven during the month May and June of 2022. Poster submissions should feature a positive message, social norms message, or healthy alternative message. The subject can be substance or mental health related. Substance use can be about nicotine/tobacco/marijuana/vaping, alcohol, and/or prescription drug abuse or illegal drug use and how it is harmful to youth. Mental Health related artwork can be on positive messages for mental well-being and/or suicide prevention, eating disorders, anxiety, depression or any other related concern. Students are encouraged to look up facts and statistics and gain knowledge on why these substances are harmful to youth and the importance of good mental health, they're encouraged to be creative and think of a message that would reach the youth outside of scare tactics. Final submissions can be emailed to [email protected] or contact us to arrange for pick-up of hard copies. Helpful Guidelines and tips for effective billboard design: · Entries must be submitted by Friday, March 25, 2022 to be eligible for the May/June 2022 postings. · Designs should be simple and easy to understand in a short amount of time. · If words are used in the design (optional), no more than seven words should be used and font should be simple. · Use Bold Vibrant Colors to show contrast and clarity. No pencil art work. Acceptable art mediums include paint, crayon, collage, ink, computer generated, etc. Youth are allowed to use computer programs to create the billboard on the computer. · Artwork size requirement is 11 x 17 paper, 8.5 x 11 paper, or 3200 pixels wide X 2400 pixels high. Horizontal orientation is required. · Winners can include their name and school logo on the billboard if they choose to, or the billboard can be anonymous.
