Bones Used for Teaching Found At Newton Home During Construction

NEWTON, MA — A forensic report has confirmed that bones found at a Newton home on Friday were used for educational purposes, according to Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Newton Police Chief John Carmichael. Detectives assigned to the District Attorney's office responded to a Carver Road residence for a report that bones had been located on the property, which is currently under construction. The bones were located in a metal box and were secured and transported off the property by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME). An examination by a forensic anthropologist at the OCME confirmed that the bones had markings consistent with being used for teaching and there are no signs of foul play. Officials said the box contained mixed bones belonging to multiple people as well as a cat skeleton.
