SAN LORENZO, CA — A man fractured his ankle after falling 20 feet into San Lorenzo Creek early Saturday, fire officials said. Fire crews had to lower a ladder down the steep wall of the canal and hoist the man to safety. Firefighters were called about 4 a.m. to the Cherryland area of Alameda County near Mission Boulevard and Maddox Road. The man was taken to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley with a fractured ankle, a fire spokesperson said. This am your ACFD Firefighters and ACSO rescued a patient from a canal in Cherryland.
