RIDGEFIELD, CT — An online petition for safer crosswalks in Ridgefield has garnered over 430 names. Lisa DelGiudice, a teacher at RCK Preschool, posted the petition to change.org two weeks ago. It garnered 250 signatures in the first week, and another 184 as of Tuesday evening. Under the microscope is the crosswalk on Main Street by the Aldrich Museum and by the Ridgefield Conservatory of Dance in the middle of town. DelGiudice's plan would replace existing crosswalk signs with pedestrian-activated ones featuring flashing lights to alert drivers to stop and allow for safer street crossings. "Adding new LED solar and battery powered signs could help pedestrians cross Main Street with less fear and more confidence that drivers will adhere to the rules of the road," DelGiudice wrote.
