WOODBRIDGE, VA — A 58-year-old woman was found dead in an inlet of the Occoquan Reservoir in Woodbridge on Sunday, police said. The woman was identified as Tammy Parlett McBride; authorities have not identified a cause of death.
Officers from the Prince William County responded to the inlet in the 11500 block of Nellings Place in Woodbridge around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.
A caller told police that they had not heard from a family member yet. When the caller went to the family member's home, they saw something floating in the water behind the home, according to the police report. A boater in the area confirmed that the floating item was a body.
Members of the police department's Underwater Search & Rescue Team removed the bodyfrom the water. Rescue personnel also responded and pronounced the woman as deceased.
The woman, who was later identified as McBride, had not been reported missing before her death. Authorities took her body to the Medical Examiner's Office so they can determine a cause of death. The police department said that they did not suspect foul play "at this time."
