Milford Senior Center Celebrates a Week of Love

Milford CT- The Milford Senior Center is sharing the love with their members by offering not just a day but a week of happy little surprises in appreciation of members and to celebrate St. Valentine's Day. "It's been a long and hard season of COVID these past 22-plus months and we really wanted to show our members how much we have missed them and appreciate their support of the Center." said Leonora Rodriguez, Executive Director of the Milford Senior Center. Amanda Berry, Program Director began by wanting to offer an opportunity for members to de-stress and unwind for Valentine's Day. She reached out to Carriage Green Assisted Living to see if they would be interested in sponsoring a tea-to-go box. That small gesture rolled into a whole week- and a Week of Love was created. Kicking off the Week of Love on Sunday February 13th, members were able to drop in to the Center to pick up a small arrangement of flowers. Forty-six members stopped in to take advantage of the little pick-me-up and reminder that Spring is not too far away. On Monday, member who pre-registered were treated to a "Tea for Two" Tea-to-go box, sponsored in part by Carriage Green of Milford, consisted of tea, jam, scones and cookies. On Tuesday February 15th, the Second Glance Shop, located in the Milford Senior Center offered a special Sweetheart Sale. The Shop is open to the public weekdays from 9am to 1pm. The shop sells gently used items for women and men at low cost. Proceeds from the shop go on to support the Milford Senior Center. If you missed the first couple of days of Week of Love and are a senior center member (or would like to become a member), please join us for live music on Wednesday February 16th from 1pm - 2pm. Featuring 'The Coconuts', a toe-tapping and knee-slapping good time. The Coconuts play popular songs with a comedic twist. To round out the week, the first 100 members will be treated to a small bag filled with chocolates on Thursday February 17th. Lastly, if you enjoy trivia, members are invited to guess the trivia question for this month for a chance to be entered into a drawing to win one of three gift baskets!
