UNIONDALE, NY — A Nassau County supermarket received citations for selling illegal fish by the state Department of Environmental Conservation. According to the DEC, Environmental Conservation Officers conducted a retail market check of the seafood department at a Uniondale grocery store. During the inspection, the DEC says the officers found three undersized and un-tagged striped bass, along with filleted striped bass, available for purchase. The DEC said the manager was unable to provide documentation required for the fish. The officers issued citations for possession of undersized fish, unlawful sale of un-tagged striped bass, and unlawful sale of striped bass fillets without a tagged carcass available. The tickets are all returnable to Nassau County District Court.
