Description
General function(s): Cross Functional Stamping Operators are responsible for starting and stopping stamping press equipment, setting and removing dies and production fixtures, loading coil and sheet material into the presses, unloading layers from the press, moving layers to the bead blast department, transferring completed gaskets to inspect and pack stations and layers to the assembly department, reporting problems with equipment, and monitoring quality throughout the stamping process. Essential duties and responsibilities: Set-up, maintain, and operate presses, including loading and unloading of dies, and removing and attaching fixtures required in specific part production, such as robot arms, safety devices, scrap shooters, scrap bins, feeders, etc. Perform general maintenance on press equipment Perform visual checks of material being loaded into presses and layers and completed gaskets coming out of presses, and move in-process and completed parts to designated areas Move damaged and in-need-of-service dies to the tool area and retrieve repaired and reconditioned dies from the tool area when complete Perform assigned processes and process maintenance All duties and responsibilities must be performed in a safe manner and in compliance with all pertinent regulations, according to standard procedures and work instructions Supervisory responsibilities: NONE Qualifications or skill requirements: General computer operation Able to drive a forklift Able to compare completed parts to visual standard Must be able to read and understand equipment gauges Must be able to use calipers, snap gauges, rulers and micrometers to check parts for product conformity Must be able to read and follow procedures and be aware of and comply with the companys quality and environmental policies Education and experience: High school diploma or equivalent. Previous work in a manufacturing environment is preferable. Physical demands: Able to lift and move objects up to 30 pounds Able to duck under objects less than four feet off the ground, negotiate obstacles and projecting pieces of equipment in narrow spaces Able to lift and use basic tools, including screw drivers, pliers, wrenches, cranes, and similar equipment. Work environment: The stamping area includes two progressive presses, two transfer presses, and two servo presses. In-process layers are moved to the assembly area or bead blast area, while finished (single layer) gaskets are moved to inspect and pack.
