Malicious Wounding Charges Filed Against 2 Men In Arlington

ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington County Police made two arrests in connection with two recent unrelated malicious wounding incidents that occurred in Crystal City and the Clarendon areas, according to the weekly crime report. In the first incident, police responded round 12:36 p.m. on Friday for the report of a man with a knife in the 400 block of South Eads Street. Officers located the man in the area of the Crystal City Metro and took him into custody without incident. A preliminary investigation revealed that a man holding a knife approached the victim outside a business. The man lunged at the victim and tried to hit him but then rode away on a bicycle, according to police. No injuries were reported. Police charged 20-year-old Victor Gabriel Gomes Da Silva of Arlington with attempted malicious wounding. Gomes Da Silva is being held without bond. (Google Maps) In the second incident, officers working the Nightlife Detail responded around 1:04 a.m. on Saturday for the report of a fight taking place outside an establishment in the 3100 block of Wilson Boulevard. Arriving on the scene, the officers found the victim, who had received a laceration. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for his injury. An investigation revealed that the victim was with a group of people inside the establishment when he got into an argument with the suspect. Security personnel removed the victim and suspect. Once they were outside, the two began to fight, with the suspect pulling out a knife and striking the victim, according to police. Employees of the business intervened and detained the suspect until police arrived. Police arrested 23-year-old William Lee of Southampton, Pennsylvania and charged him with malicious wounding. He was then held in custody without bond.
