Press release from Guilford County Schools: Sept. 10, 2020 Sept. 10, 2020 - Guilford Parent Academy (GPA) is continuing to build strong home-school-community relationships while developing support systems to enhance the quality of life for families. To ensure GPA's offerings are fully helping families, GPA is launching a Family Engagement Network consisting of parents, district leaders, community members and representatives of local businesses and community organizations. The network will offer valuable input on GPA's programming and resources. Additionally, the Family Engagement Network will provide leadership opportunities and support new family engagement strategies. In partnership with other GCS departments, participants of the network will also explore diversity and equity along with social-emotional learning in practice. "Now—more than ever before—parents and caregivers are in need of resources and support," said Kimberly Funderburk, director of GPA. "We want to make sure that those whom we serve have a voice in leveraging family and community engagement. Through the network, participants can help implement new and innovative resources for families." The Family Engagement Network is kicking off with a virtual meeting on Thursday, Sept. 17 from 6 until 7:30 p.m. Parents, community members and business/organization representatives are encouraged to attend.
