Press release from the City of Colorado Springs: 2022-02-14 The Blue Moon Trail Run is a fun and challenging local race provided by the City of Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department. The 3-time run series is offered on the fourth Friday evenings of May, June, and July. In addition to the race series there will be a Reverse Biathlon and Triathlon race offered for May only. fourth Friday evenings of May, June, and July. The running races start and finish in Piñon Valley Park in northwest Colorado Springs, but primarily runs within neighboring Ute Valley Park. Piñon Valley Park The biathlon and triathlon will begin at Pinon Valley Park, continuing onto the trails in Ute Valley Park, onto the bike lanes through the foothill neighborhoods and finishing at Wilson Ranch Pool. All races include climbs to beautiful vistas, a rock arch, seasonal sunflowers, wonderful post-race performances and kids races for those age 12 and under. Awards ceremony to take place post-race on Friday, July 22 Events Timeline 4:30pm On-Site Registration Opens 5:30pm Kids Race Start 6:00pm 5k, Reverse Biathlon & Reverse Triathlon Start 6:30 – 8:30pm Post Race Beer Gardens and Meal Open 8:00pm Last swimmer finishing 8:30 p.m.   Crowd disperses, event concludes Food Trucks: TBD Performers: TBD Run Series: $80 pre/$100 day of Individual Trail Run Series Races: $30 pre/$45 day of May Biathlon: $60 Pre May 23 May Triathlon $75 Pre May 23 May Triathlon Relay $90 Pre May 23 (3 participants) May Bi/Tri/Relay + Final 2 Trail Run Races: + $50 Max capacity: 175 (5K; 100; Triathlon; 50 Biathlon; 50 8K&10K; 75) Will follow the most up to date public health protocol: Guidance from El Paso County Public Health (EPCPH), the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) and the Center for Disease Control (CDC) will be utilized to inform procedures on such areas as food, water stations, gathering, race start field size, spectators and post-race participation.  Timing will be based on chip time for the running races only - Reverse Triathlon and Biathlon will be both chip time and hand time.
