Husky/Shepherd needs special home

Description

We are seeking to re-home one of our dogs. We are at the end of our rope emotionally and financially. He is about 3 years old and he appears to be part Husky and part German Shepherd. After review from experts, it has been determined that although he looks exactly like a Coyote, he is not part Coyote, nor part wolf. This dog is extremely intelligent. We believe Apollo is about 3 years old. We have had him almost 2 years. He lived in the woods alone for 3 months of Winter after escaping. After being seen at a farm in Edneyville, I agreed to take the dog for a short time until we could find his owners and return him. After much ado, the owners acknowledged it was their dog and that they did not want him back. They refused to speak with us about any detail regarding him. Absolutely refused. He was a nice dog and we decided to keep him to see if he worked out for our family. We have had him for nearly 2 years and this is not working out. We love him but we cannot keep him. This dog would do best living with a professional trainer or someone who has extensive experience with German Shepherds. This person must also have an outdoor play area that has a very tall fence. Our 5' fence is not adequate. This dog cannot be tied out but could be trained on a leash. A new owner must also have a home that this dog cannot escape. Good luck. As of today, I am putting a padlock on his indoor crate. He knows how to escape it from the inside. It took him 4 months but he has now learned. He also opens deadbolts and doorknobs with his mouth. Which means any time he would like, he will open our doors and leave. Our other dog follows and they are both gone. He loves to run, roam and interact with other people and animals. If all of our neighbors were in agreement with that, (some are not), I would just let him run around when he wanted to. He always comes home and when he is home he is generally a good dog. For reasons I will not discuss here, I do not believe he needs to be around children under the age of 12. Rescue groups will not take him and the Pound has already told us that if we turn him in he will be put to sleep. We would like to be a part of a team that helps this dog find a better home. We want to confer with any potential new owners and work with them. And there would be a contingency that if they decided they did not want to keep him, that they would return him to us or give us that option. We will not simply be handing the dog over to anyone with no plan or connection. But at this point, life in our home is going to mean staying in a crate with a padlock way too many hours each day. We are now going to have to build or buy an outdoor kennel to keep him in, a step we would like to avoid. To seriously inquire about taking this dog, please e- mail for further information. Thank you
