Press release from City of Fort Worth:
February 15, 2022
In celebration of Black History Month, the city's Diversity & Inclusion Department is hosting a virtual screening and panel discussion of the short film This Is My Story from noon-1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17.
The film and panel discussion will broadcast live via FWTV on the city's website, on the municipal channel of your local cable provider and on the city's YouTube channel. The program also will be shown in the second floor Council Chamber at City Hall, 200 Texas St., for anyone who would like to view the program in a group setting. Light refreshments will be served.
This is My Story is a video project conceived by Dev'n Goodman that asked the question, "When have you been silenced?" of Black men living and working in Fort Worth. The resulting short film presents three stories from an educator, an event planner and a veteran peer service coordinator, each of whom has learned to be silent as a means of self-preservation. The film challenges the viewer to look deeper, shed assumptions and envision what is possible when we approach one another with understanding and compassion.
The video project's creator and the subjects featured in the film will participate in a panel discussion immediately following the screening.
