Description
TEMECULA, CA — A car careened into a drainage canal in Temecula Tuesday, injuring the driver and catching fire.
The crash was reported about 2 p.m. near the intersection of Pechanga Parkway and Rainbow Canyon Road, just east of Interstate 15, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said multiple engine crews were sent to the location and discovered the vehicle "well-involved" with flames.
The driver escaped the fire but suffered unspecified non-life- threatening injuries because of the crash, officials said.
It was unclear whether the person required hospitalization.
Crews prevented the blaze from jumping into surrounding vegetation, but the car was heavily damaged, according to reports from the scene.
The fire was knocked down about 2:25 p.m.
No road closures were implemented.
Sheriff's deputies were investigating the circumstances of the crash.
