Here are the top three stories in Chattanooga today: New data in Hamilton County Schools suggests bullying is becoming more common in the classroom. The latest bullying and harassment report for Hamilton County Schools states there were 102 confirmed bullying cases over the first semester of the '21-'22 school year. That's a 75 percent increase over the number of bullying cases reported for the entire school year of '18-'19. According to some school district representatives, this result could reflect a lack of bullying training. (WTVC) A new Tennessee bill was recently introduced in both the house and senate to help with the creation of new Charter schools in the state. The bill, HB 2833/SB2168, would speed up the application process for charter schools and establish a "debt reserve fund" for public charter schools, among other proposed changes to state code. (foxchattanooga.com) Over the past few years, overdose deaths have been on the rise all over the country. Now, the startling trend is hitting Chattanooga hard. According to the Chattanooga Police Department, there have been ten overdose deaths since the first of the month. Authorities believe one of the primary causes of the overdose spike is due to drugs being cut with fentanyl, a chemical one hundred times more potent than morphine.
