Mystery Patient ID'd By Daughter Who Rushes To Bedside: Report

OAKLAND, CA — Medical staff at Highland Hospital began treating a mystery man on Feb. 7, according to Alameda Health System officials. Patch was told the man was on life support, in "very critical" condition. He arrived unconscious with no identification. Despite efforts by the hospital, his name was elusive. With other avenues exhausted, photos and information about him were publicly released on Tuesday and published by Patch and other members of the media. Meanwhile, according to KTVU, Tamika Rivera of Concord was trying to reach her father to share big news — she was expecting her second child. While she had spoken to him on the 5th, she had been unable to contact him since. On Tuesday, she spotted her father in a photo shared on Facebook. She contacted the hospital and told them their mystery man was Jose Ramos, 46, a grandfather of 10 with another on the way. Within hours, she was at his bedside. Alameda Health System confirmed that the patient has been identified, but refused to confirm his name because of privacy concerns. A spokeswoman expressed her gratitude that the family had been reunited. Ramos was found gravely injured on an Oakland sidewalk near a homeless camp.
