Here are the top three stories in Charleston today: Two officers from the North Charleston Police Department have been recognized for saving the life of a suicidal man. Sgt. Jamel Foster and Cpl. Jose Torres responded to a crisis on the weekend that involved a man who was looking to take his own life. The two officers handled the situation with a calm demeanor and were able to talk with the man who eventually put the knife down to receive the proper mental health services. (Live 5 News WCSC)Charleston County Schools Superintendent Gerrita Postlewait will leave her position with a severance of over $300,000 from the district. Postlewait will exit from the district on Jun. 30, 2022 with her annual salary in one lump sum and the value of her unused vacation days. The agreement was signed by all of the school board members except absent Cindy Bohn Coats. (Live 5 News WCSC)The third annual College of Charleston Day raised $6.7 million to fund their efforts to deliver a unique higher education experience. A total of 2,554 donors gave towards the fundraising efforts with over 500 donors being current College of Charleston students. Additionally, fifty donors gave towards the institution's diversity fund, which is meant to support the 1967 Legacy Program.
