PALM DESERT, CA — A motorcyclist killed last week in a hit-and-run crash on Interstate 5 in Orange County was a Palm Desert man, officials confirmed Tuesday. Nick Mendoza Reyes, 31, died at the scene Thursday morning after a white SUV struck a truck, then pulled in front of Reyes, according to the California Highway Patrol. Officials said Reyes was riding his 2022 Triumph motorcycle in the fast lane of southbound I-5 in Laguna Hills when he was fatally hit. On Tuesday, officials reached out to anyone who may have seen the hit-and-run driver flee the scene. The SUV would have damage along its right side, according to the CHP. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the CHP Capistrano Area dispatch at 949-487-4000.
