Coroner IDs Woman Killed Along With Child In Thousand Palms Crash

PALM DESERT, CA —A woman who died in a rollover crash this week in Thousand Palms was identified Wednesday. Indio resident Myriam Perez Machado, 27, died following the Tuesday morning crash in the area of Varner Road and Monterey Avenue, according to the Riverside County Coroner's Office. A child, who was not identified, also died in the wreck, according to the California Highway Patrol. The driver's relationship with the child was not disclosed. Machado was driving eastbound on Varner Road when she suddenly lost control of the vehicle and rolled over into the dirt, according to the CHP. Neither the driver nor the child were wearing seatbelts, the CHP said. Machado was pronounced dead at the scene, and the child died after being rushed to a hospital.
