Hackensack Meridian Jersey Shore University Medical Center’s dentistry residents recently provided a free dental health education event for seniors at the Asbury Park Community Center. The academic medical center’s Dentistry Residency Program Director Sally-Jo Placa, DMD, MPA, described the event. “We provided advice and guidance about brushing and flossing. Tips to develop good oral hygiene habits and explained the necessity of frequent visits to the dentist for cleanings and exams. Tooth replacement was discussed, with regard to dentures and partial dentures and the maintenance of those prostheses. We opened up to the audience for questions after the presentation was finished and fielded some great questions,” said Dr. Placa. “We made them aware we have a Senior Citizen Grant through our Foundation office with Delta Dental of New Jersey. We asked them to avail themselves of our dental services at the Booker Family Health Center in Neptune and take advantage of the grant. The event was very rewarding for all!” For more information about the Jane H. Booker Family Health Center, visit https://www.hackensackmeridianhealth.org/en/Locations/JSUMC-Family-Health-Center.
