PITTSBURGH, PA — The Steelers had one of the NFL's worst offenses in 2021. Their new offensive line coach comes from a team that had an even worse one. Pat Meyer was named the new offensive line coach on Tuesday. He succeeds interim coach Chris Morgan, who coached the final regular season and the playoffs after Adrian Klemm was allowed to leave for a University of Oregon position. Meyer spent the last two years as the offensive line coach for the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers last year had the NFL's 30th ranked offense, only ahead of the New York Giants and Houston Texans. The Steelers' offense, as bad as it was, ranked 23rd. The Panthers averaged 108 rushing yards per game, compared to the Steelers 93. However, the Panthers game up the fifth-most quarterback sacks in the league with 52. The often-belittled Steelers' offensive line gave up just 38, despite playing in front of a mostly immobile Ben Roethlisberger, who recently retired.
