Pittsburgh Apartment Fire Critically Injures Man

PITTSBURGH, PA —One man was critically injured early Wednesday in an apartment building fire in the 2600 block of Churchview Avenue. Firefighters arrived shortly after 1 a.m. and evacuated residents inside the building. Firefighters found heavy smoke coming from one apartment, where they found a man on the ground and recliner on fire. The fire was contained to one apartment, but seven others sustained minor smoke and moderate water damage. A female building resident was evaluated for smoke inhalation, but not taken to the hospital. The Fire Investigation Unit was on scene. The cause is believed to be accidental.
