CONCORD, NH — Game bettors in the Granite State waged big on the Super Bowl on Sunday, according to the New Hampshire Lottery. More than $7.7 million was waged on the game with 70 percent of bettors picking the Cincinnati Bengals to win. They, of course, lost, to the Los Angeles Rams, in a squeaker. About $6.6 million was bet on the DraftKings mobile app while $1.1 million worth of bets were placed at a retail sportsbook. Officials said 28 percent of bets placed in New Hampshire were people with Massachusetts addresses. "New England sports fans are the best in the country, and even though the Patriots did not make it to the Big Game, this did not deter New Hampshire players from getting in on the action," Charlie McIntyre, the executive director of the New Hampshire Lottery, said. "With players betting more than $7.7 million, the volume of wagering speaks for itself as sports betting continues to build momentum in New Hampshire. We look forward to continuing to grow this channel as we work to maximize revenue for our schools." Innovation Schools Fellowship Offered The New Hampshire Department of Education is seeking "forward-thinking" school districts to apply for its inaugural Innovation Schools Fellowship. The initiative aims to help districts launch new school models in their communities. Within the fellowship, district leadership, spearheaded by a potential school founder and championed by a superintendent or set of superintendents, will be guided in a design and planning process to potentially launch a new school for their region. The fellowship is connected to a law approved last year. At the end of the nine-month process, select districts will emerge with a new school model that, if approved by their local school boards, could dramatically change the lives of children for years to come. "We believe that students should be the drivers of their own destiny, which is why, throughout this five-phase planning and design process, community and student input will be critical," Matt Brunell of Rooted Consulting, which is partnering with NHDOE to launch the Innovation Schools Fellowship, said. School districts interested in applying for the fellowship have until March 1, and can obtain additional information here. The design and planning process is funded by Title II, Part A funds.
