'Aggressive' Oswego East Student Bites Officer, Punches Walls: PD

OSWEGO, IL — An "aggressive" Oswego East High School student has been taken into custody after several units responded to the school around 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, police said. During the investigation, police determined the student, a 15-year-old boy, was in the school office for disciplinary action for prior misconduct. The student "became upset, began yelling and was aggressive," according to police, who allege he punched and damaged walls in the office and battered a school official. Upon hearing the commotion and attempting to help staff handle the student, a school police resource officer radioed police for assistance, and multiple local agencies responded to the call. The student also battered and bit the SRO in the arm, according to police. Once additional police officers got to the school, the student was arrested and processed at the Oswego Police Department, where he was also evaluated by paramedics. In a post on Facebook, Oswego police addressed rumors spreading on social media and said the student was not tased during the incident. Police said no other students were involved in the incident. Following approval from the Kendall County State's Attorney's Office, the 15-year-old was charged with aggravated battery against a school official, aggravated battery to a peace officer and restricting/obstructing a peace officer. He was also charged with two counts of criminal damage to state-supported property. The student was taken to the Kane County Juvenile Justice Center pending court proceedings.
