NEWTOWN, PA — The Council Rock Board of School Directors will vote Thursday on a separation agreement with the district's superintendent, the board announced Wednesday. In a letter to the Council Rock community, board president Ed Salamon and vice president Michael Thorwart said separation had been on the table since the beginning of Dr. Robert Fraser's leave in January. The school district still has yet to publicly share information on the circumstances of that leave. But according to their letter, both the board and the superintendent now agree that Fraser leaving his position with the district is the best course of action. "As [a] result, an amicable separation agreement was agreed upon and will be voted on at the special meeting of the Board of Directors on Thursday, February 17, 2022," Salamon and Thorwart wrote. "The Council Rock School Board wants to thank Dr. Fraser for his service and leadership of the Council Rock School District. The board wishes him success in his future ventures." Fraser returned the gratitude, according to their letter. "Dr. Fraser thanks the board, including prior Board Members, for the opportunity to lead the district and wishes the District continuing success in its mission to educate children," they wrote. The letter did not comment on who will fill the role of superintendent, but former assistant superintendent Susan Elliott currently holds the job in an interim capacity. The Council Rock School Board's special meeting will take place Thursday at 7 p.m. Be the first to know what's going on in Newtown when you subscribe to Patch.
