List of Motorways: Following is the list of Motorways in Pakistan 1) Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway (M-1): Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway (M-1) is one of the busiest motorways in Pakistan. The length of the M-1 Motorway is 155 km and is consists of six lanes. It was completed in 2007, and from then, it has been operational. 2) Islamabad-Lahore Motorway (M-2): The most busiest motorway in Pakistan, Islamabad-Lahore Motorway (M-2), was completed in 1997, and from then, it has been operational. The repaving work on M-2 Motorway was completed in 2016. It is 367 km long and consists of six lanes. 3) Lahore-Abdul Hakeem Motorway (M-3): Completed in 2019, the Lahore-Abdul Hakeem Motorway (M-3) has made it to the list of the network of Motorways in Pakistan since 2019. Its length is 230 km and has six lanes. 4) Pindi Bhattian-Multan Motorway (M-4): The construction work on M-4 Motorway began in 2009. It is 309 km in length and has 4-6 lanes. It has been operational since 2019. 5) Multan-Sukkur Motorway (M-5): The most awaited motorway, M-5, has been operational since 2019. It is 392 km long and runs from Multan to Sukkur, connecting south-east Punjab with the north-west Sindh. The M-5 Motorway has 6 lanes. 6) Sukkur-Hyderabad Motorway (M-6): The Ministry of Planning and Development, in coalition with NHA, has planned the M-6 Motorway. The lanes and expected date of completion have not been decided yet. However, the proposed data suggest that it will be 306 km long and connect Sukkur with Hyderabad. 7) Dadu-Hub Motorway (M-7): Dadu-Hub Motorway was proposed and planned in 2019. It is expected that the Motorway will be 270 km long. However, the construction and developmental work is not started yet on this project. 8) Ratodero-Gwadar Motorway (M-8): Ratodero-Gwadar Motorway is the longest Motorway in Pakistan, connecting Gwadar with the rest of Pakistan. The 442 km is operational, and the rest of 450 km is expected to be completed soon. The concerned authorities have declared that all the construction work on M-8 Motorway will be accomplished at the end o0f 2022. 9) Hyderabad-Karachi Motorway (M-9): The M-2 Motorway has been in operation since 2018. It is 136 km long and has 6 lanes. 10) Karachi Northern Bypass (M-10): Operated in 2018, Karachi Northern Bypass has been 57 km in length and is a gift from the then government to the people of Karachi. 11) Sialkot-Lahore Motorway (M-11): The people of Sialkot suffer for years because they have no access to Motorway. However, the PML(N) government gifted them M-11 Motorway with the help of which the traveling time decreased and produced a lot of amenities for the people of Lahore and Sialkot. It has been in business since 2020. There are 4 lanes in it, and it is 103 km long. 12) Sialkot-Kharian Motorway (M-12): The construction work on Sialkot-Kharian Motorway is started in 2021 and will be completed in 2023. It is 70 km in length and has a total of 4 lanes. 13) Kharian-Rawalpindi Motorway (M-13): The M-13 Motorway is planned, and the project will be completed in 2023. Its length is 117 km. 14) Islamabad-D.I Khan Motorway (M-14): Operational in January 2022, the M-14 Motorway is connecting Islamabad with D.I. Khan. It is 285 km long and consists of 4 lanes. 15) Hasan Abdal-Thakot Motorway (M-15): Also known as Hazara Motorway, the Hasan Abdal-Thakot Motorway connects the plain areas of Pakistan with its Northern regions. It is 180 km long and is consists of 6-4-2 lanes. 16) Swabi-Chakdara Motorway (M-16): Popular among the people as Swat Motorway, the M-16 Motorway is 160 km long and is connecting the gateway of Northern areas, Swat, with the whole country.
