NAPERVILLE, IL — A local attorney and member of the Naperville Liquor Commission has resigned from the board after she was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and other offenses, police said. Dana Davenport, 43, faces charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to signal, disobeying a traffic signal, improper lane use and tampering with evidence/providing false information. A spokesman for the Naperville Police Department said that Davenport was pulled over by police at 12:23 a.m. on Friday near Washington Street and Martin Avenue and was arrested after police suspected she was under the influence of alcohol. Davenport was appointed to the Liquor Commission in 2020 and was to serve a term that lasted until 2023. She is also the host of the internet radio show entitled "Dana Being Dana." A city spokeswoman confirmed Tuesday that Naperville Mayor Steve Chirico accepted Davenport's resignation from the board following her arrest. "It would be inappropriate for her to continue in her role given that she has a matter pending with the Naperville Police Department," the city said in a statement issued to Patch.
