MISSION VIEJO, CA — Are you a Mission Viejo resident looking learn more about a proposed project in the heart of your community? ValueRock Realty, the developer of the proposed Mission Viejo Garden Plaza Project, plans to host a slew of virtual workshops starting Feb. 17, the City of Mission Viejo announced Friday. The Mission Viejo Garden Plaza Project is a proposed retail and residential project located on the northwest side of Marguerite Parkway and La Paz. The private property owner's application proposes to demolish the existing 46,148 square-feet of building area to make room for The Gardens, a project with five upper stories and 234 apartment units, over 600 parking spaces and 48,000 square-feet of retail. The workshops will be followed by an in-person community open house on March 9, the city reported. The decision to implement community workshops is followed by a discussion at the Jan. 25 Mission Viejo City Council meeting, where numerous residents voiced their concerns about the proposed project. Each virtual workshop focuses on a specific component of the project based on feedback received by Mission Viejo residents.
