CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL — A fire at a Chicago Heights home Tuesday night completely destroyed a house and caused extensive damage to a residence next door after an unattended space heater caught flame, fire officials told Patch.
Firefighters responded to the home on the 1500 block of Aberdeen Street Tuesday shortly before 8:30 p.m. According to officials, a single family home was completely engulfed in flames by the time they arrived and had caused a neighboring home's attic to catch fire.
Chicago Heights Fire Chief Jeffrey Springer told Patch all occupants from both homes were evacuated and accounted for and no injuries were reported.
This is a developing story, check back with Patch for updates.
