CHICAGO — A 37-year-old off-duty firefighter suffered cuts to his face early Wednesday after a bullet shattered the window of his car, authorities said.
Someone fired shots from a car near the 2900 block of West Montrose Street around 6:30 a.m. as the firefighter, who has not been identified, was driving home from working at a firehouse.
He was treated for injuries at Swedish Covenant Hospital.
"His injuries were not serious. He was released from the hospital this morning," fire department spokesman Larry Merritt said.
