Description
HAYWARD, CA — While the State of California and Alameda County have lifted mask mandates to combat COVID, the City of Hayward will require masks at City Hall, Hayward Public Library and other City facilities through at least the end of February as a continuing public health and workplace-safety measure.
California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA) standards allow the measures.
"To those ends, the City of Hayward is continuing to monitor coronavirus infection rates and adjust operational and City workplace rules, practices and protocols to minimize risk while maintaining public services," the City said in an announcement. "Masking, coupled with vaccination, remains a proven effective strategy of preventing COVID-19 and community spread of the coronavirus and its variants."
Hayward also point out that Alameda County health authorities continue to recommend the wearing of masks in indoor settings in which unvaccinated people may be present.
