Council Honors 'Esteemed Veteran' Of Roswell Sgt. Kent Sharp

ROSWELL, GA — The Mayor and City Council proclaimed Sergeant Kent Sharp an Esteemed Veteran of Roswell at the Feb. 14 City Council meeting. He was honored for his service to both the community and the country, according to a news release. Sgt. Sharp joined the U.S. Army in 1969 before being deployed to Vietnam, the release stated. He was honored with the Combat Infantryman Badge, Army Commendation Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters and "V" device, Army Good Conduct Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze service stars. He was honorably discharged in 1975. He co-founded VetBuds in 2011 along with other retired servicemen to support and provide assistance to other veterans in Georgia, according to the release. "While I don't believe I'm worthy of the praise, I gladly accept this award and dedicate it to all Vietnam veterans that returned home from that unpopular war," said Sharp in the release. "Thank you Mayor Wilson and Roswell City Council Members and City staff for making Roswell, Ga. the best place in America to live." For more detailed information about Sgt.
