Press release from the City of Huntsville: February 16, 2022 On February 15, 2022, at 8:28 p.m. HPD officers responded to I565 WB at Exit 3 for a vehicle vs. pedestrian accident. Investigators believe the incident began as a domestic dispute when the involved pulled off the roadway. The pedestrian exited the vehicle and ended in the roadway before being struck by an oncoming vehicle traveling westbound. 39-year-old Joseph Lester Campbell was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and no charges are expected at this time. The crash is being investigated by the Huntsville Police Department.
