BIRMINGHAM, AL — A Birmingham Water Works vehicle was hit by gunfire Tuesday night while an employee was on a meter route. The incident occurred around 9 p.m. in the 900 Block of 39th Street North, according to an ABC 33/40 report. The employee was not injured, but the BWWB issued a statement following the incident: "Birmingham Water Works puts the safety of our employees and customers at top priority and encourages those engaging in the use of firearms to share that sentiment.
