We are local arts advocates and community builders from the Fort Lauderdale, Florida area that developed an initiative to activate vacant commercial retail spaces to create affordable artist studios on a month to month basis for artists to create & collaborate in outside of their home. We do this by taking leases on spaces from property owners that welcome the opportunity, and subdivide larger spaces up to make smaller/affordable studios. We handle the buildout, insurance, and utilities, so all artists have to do is show up & paint. Launching prior to COVID, we have opened 22 locations previously throughout 4 counties in South Florida, creating a myriad of win/win/win benefits for the artists, property owners, and the community alike. We provide inclusive, artist run spaces, that are not overly juried - allowing emerging artists to work alongside mid-career and established artists providing everyone a fair opportunity to be discovered & collected by the public. Our first location outside of South Florida is in the Natick Mall in a former Burberry store next to Louis Vuitton, easily the nicest studio space we've ever activated or seen before. We have 12 spaces ranging from 75sqft to 238sqft, all $4.50/sqft with the water & electric included on a month to month basis.
