An update/edit here before the original post below: The response to this ad has been phenomenal and honestly a bit overwhelming, which is a good problem to have. Regardless, between the high volume of responses and an unexpected bout of strep, I've been slower than I'd like in keeping up. If we've already talked, I'm still interested in talking further unless I've indicated otherwise directly. As of today (02/16/2022) the plan is to hold the first set of auditions on Saturday 02/26/2022 in the late afternoon. I'm working on nailing down those spots. I have to say that the positive response is amazing and a big departure from the response to my first ad when I built the band 9 years ago. I got a lot of hate mail back then from people who said an 80s New Wave band would never work and was a waste of time. The incredible success that followed, and the huge number of fans since proves otherwise. It's been awesome, and I'm so excited to get it going once again. To save a little time, I appreciate the huge outpouring of interest. As of now I have a wealth of candidates to work with. I encourage anyone who is interested still to reach out. However, I should point out that the MOST important things I'm looking for are attitude and personality followed immediately by at least a solid familiarity with the chosen material. Lots of people saying how fun it would be to "try" and learn this stuff... sorry, but what has always made this band great was a shared love and appreciation for this particular music and a broad knowledge of it. I don't see taking the time to get people caught up on music from several decades ago as a viable or sensible approach so please, be a New Wave lover. Sure, I love lots of other music, but that's not what this band does. Our formula is tried and true and it will remain the formula for as long as it brings a crowd of happy listeners. Now, please read on for the original ad. Since 2013, The Obscure80's has been the #1 80s New Wave Cover Band. We set the bar for all the rest who followed by playing the greatest songs of the generation as only we could while having tons of fun and gaining an incredible following of faithful fans. Recent years' events have sadly taken a toll, but now it's time to rebuild and get back to work. As the founder of the group as well as lead vocalist, guitarist, keyboards and more, I'm looking to rebuild with (hopefully) another awesome group of friends to fill out the band once more. I've been incredibly lucky in the past to have had some amazing players on board and now it might be your turn to join the fun. I have extensive contacts and booking opportunities and am anxious to get back out there. I hope to start auditions and rehearsals in February and I'm looking for the right people to join me.
