After being reelected, Trustees Elisa Williamson and Ray Pearson were sworn in as Carlsbad Unified School District Trustees at the Board's organizational meeting on December 16, 2020.
Mrs. Elisa Williamson, representing Trustee Area 2, joined the Board of Trustees in 2000. During her 20 years on the Board, she spearheaded the development of a Governance Handbook, District Vision Statement, and the Continuous Improvement process. She was the co-chair of the Prop P bond campaign and has sat on numerous committees, including Strategic Planning, GATE, Superintendent selection, and Graduate Profile. She received a "Masters in Governance" certification through the California School Boards Association. Mrs. Williamson said, "I am honored to continue to serve the Carlsbad Unified community as a Trustee."
Mr. Ray Pearson, representing Trustee Area 3, was elected to the Board of Trustees in 2014. With over 40 years of community involvement in Carlsbad, he has been a part of the CHS Baccalaureate Committee, Proposition P Oversight Committee, Parent Association Board, the CHS School Site Council, and the CHS Speech and Debate program. "I want to thank the voters in Area 3 for their continued trust and confidence," said Trustee Pearson.
At the meeting, the Board also elected Claudine Jones as President of the Board of Trustees, Elisa Williamson as Vice President, and Ray Pearson as Clerk for the 2021 calendar year.
