Lakeview Virtual School Academic Learning Coaches/Mentors Certification Requirements: Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate§ Liaison between the student online instructor, parents, and administration§ Assist with enrollment§ Ensure the chosen course is approved by the school and meets the student’s graduation requirements§ Monitor student progress weekly and help the student stay on track to complete the courses successfully and on time§ Establish and communicate clear expectations and guidelines§ Communicate with the online instructor, school administrators and parents using email, text messages, face-to-face, § Establish rapport with students and encourage academic success§ Meet with the students as needed (in person when possible or virtually if necessary) and keep records of the meetings.§ Assign final grade to the student transcript after the score is submitted by the online instructor§ Teach and encourage students to be self-directed, independent learners who are responsible for their coursework, but ensure resources are available to help them succeed§ Create a learning environment that is welcoming, supportive and flexible enough to meet the individual students needs Qualifications: Experience with or other online learning programs Experience working with students in an online/virtual structure Current and valid Michigan teaching certificate Ability to work with students in all academic areas Ability to communicate effectively with staff, parents and students Effective and structured classroom management skills Good organizational skills Ability to successfully pass a background check Responsibilities: phone, and/or other appropriate methods Submit specific paperwork to clerical and administrative staff in a timely manner Specifications: Non-union position Single Subscriber Benefit package Three leave days or Act of God days in first year Limited Professional Development Days Salary: $31,500/year (Salary and additional benefit enhancements in years 2 +) STARTING DATE: SEPTEMBER, 2020 MANDATORY ORIENTATION: SEPTEMBER 10, 2020 DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION: 3:00 PM, TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 8, 2020 ACCEPTING ONLINE APPLICATIONS ONLY PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR ONLINE APPLICATION AT www.lakeviewpublicschools.org, AND INCLUDE A LETTER OF INTEREST, RESUME, TRANSCRIPTS AND REFERENCES.
