Description

Join us as we walk around University of Houston Clear Lake campus spotting birds and gaining birdwatching knowledge and skills. We will meet at the Environmental Institute of Houston (EIH) We are housed on the UHCL campus in an annex building on the north side of parking lot D. Enter campus via Entrance 3 off Middlebrook Road and then take the first turn to the right. We are the first building on the right. Find us in our Habitat Garden on the west side of the building. New members are always welcome! We are located in the Houston Clear Lake area for children aged 7-13. Children under 10 need to be accompanied by an adult. Children aged 10 -13 may be dropped off (there is a sign in), but parents are welcome to stay if they wish!  Each month we explore a local park or our own campus and discover the many bird species (as well as other wildlife) that live and visit here with an experienced birder and birding educator.  Wear closed toed shoes. We also highly recommend wearing long pants, a long sleeved shirt, sunhat, sunscreen and insect repellent. Bring binoculars and a birding book if you have them. Don't worry if you don't have these items or even if you have never been birding before - we have good quality binoculars to share and are delighted to welcome beginners. Make sure that you bring water to drink (and a snack if you wish). This opportunity is organized with the wonderful help of volunteers from the Galveston Bay Area Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalists.  There is no charge. The mission of the Environmental Institute of Houston (EIH) is to advance understanding of the environment through interdisciplinary research, education, and outreach.
