Press release from the City of Carlsbad: December 8, 2020 Traffic & Mobility Commission Vacancy The City of Carlsbad is seeking residents interested in a scheduled vacancy on the City of Carlsbad Traffic & Mobility Commission for the term present through December 2022. Applications for this volunteer position are available on the city's website or in the City Clerk's Office, 1200 Carlsbad Village Drive. Applications must be submitted to the City Clerk's Office by noon on Jan. 4, 2021. The Traffic & Mobility Commission advises and makes recommendations to the City Council on matters involving traffic safety, pedestrian safety, parking and school safety. Duties are as follows: Studies all matters concerning mobility and traffic safety, including implementation of the General Plan Mobility Element Reviews staff studies and makes recommendations to the City Council on matters involving mobility and traffic safety. Provides a public forum to review complaints and requests regarding mobility and traffic safety. Provides recommendations for revision to the city codes and plans on matters involving mobility and traffic safety, parking, and school safety. Makes written recommendations to the City Council regarding measures that should be taken to promote mobility and traffic safety. The Traffic & Mobility Commission has seven members who are appointed by the assigned District Council Member or the Mayor in accordance with the Boards & Commissions Appointment Transition Options (Resolution No. 2018-178) and a majority vote of the City Council to serve four year terms. The Traffic & Mobility Commission normally meets at 5 p.m. the first Monday of the month at the City Council Chamber at Carlsbad City Hall, 1200 Carlsbad Village Drive. Applicants must be Carlsbad residents and registered to vote in Carlsbad. Traffic & Mobility Commission members are required to complete two hours of ethics training every two years and file a Fair Political Practices Commission Form 700 annual statement of economic interests. This statement, which is a public document, details a person's financial interests such as property ownership and business ownership.
