We need your help keeping our young oak trees strong. Join us for a morning of pulling weeds, watering, and mulching a crop of new trees.
Ecological restoration is the process of repairing damaged or disturbed ecosystems. The Santa Margarita River Trail Preserve contains several sites where past land use practices have degraded the structure and function of ecosystem leading to impaired habitats.
Since 2020 The Wildlands Conservancy staff have been cleaning up and restoring 9 acres of the Preserve that had once been used for agricultural production. A key component of that restoration has been to plant oak trees. The oak trees will provide more structure to the vacant field and become the building blocks for improving the health of the habitat in this portion of the river corridor.
Come out and give us a hand in making the conversion of this plot of land from old agricultural field to the beauty of wild nature.
